Art and Truth-Telling Okt 17 Bildmuseet

I have been developing a new artwork as part of my research project To Know and be Known by (a) Place. The installation Knyta an, entwine, gårredidh, made of textile, risoprint and sound, will be exhibited at the Art and Truth Telling exhibition at Bildmuseet, opening on Friday 17 October.:

What counts as truth? In what ways can art expand the language of truth and the process of truth-telling? Art and Truth-Telling marks the process of the Swedish Truth Commission for the Sámi people. Through joik, duodji, drawing, installation, architecture, and glasswork, the exhibition highlights the role of art in shaping personal and collective truths.

Participating are: Avant Joik (Matti Aikio, Katarina Barruk and Maja Solveig Kjelstrup Ratkje), Elme Ämting, Sissel M Bergh, Niklas Blindh, Monica L Edmondson, Mats Jonsson, Johanna Minde, Lisa Nyberg, Julia Rensberg, Birgitta Ricklund, Per Elof Nilsson Ricklund, and Risfjells Sameslöjd Vilhelmina (Doris Risfjell and Sven-Åke Risfjell).

The exhibition is curated by Anca Rujoiu and Anneli Bäckman in a collaboration between Bildmuseet and Gaaltije Saemien Museume.
